very nice apartment - very friendly and reliable host - costs reasonable - absolutely recommendable!
It's just been a pleasure to stay there...
I recommend to use google.maps for getting out and in house, just click the public transportation button and you'll get a choice of all bus stations around the door. Bus connections are quite reliable...
The apartment was large, light and airy. It could have been an excellent place to stay but due to small things it was just OK to good.
The kitchen is large and has a good cooker and fridge but not enough pots or equipment to make it useable. An example being there are frying pans but nothing like a spatual to get food out, there are only small pots so you cannot cook pasta etc and no strainer if you do cook.
It needs some TLC to freshen it up and small things things like plugs for the sinks etc. There was no broom etc to sweep the floor if you dropped anything so it got a bit dusty by the time we left.
However it served as a good base for our stay. The location is a bit noisey at night and I would not recommend wandering around alone late at night but we had no problems and felt safe enough. The lightrail terminal is only 5 mins walk away and from there you get the Path into Manhattan. It cost approx $6 to get into Manhattan and takes about 35mins.
The stay was cancelled as the description location was far different than advertised.
Requested a place in mid town Manhattan NY and it gave me a location in NJ (where I am from.)so there was no sense to lease a place when I could commuted the same distance to the conference I was attending. The owner apologized for the mistake.
Nice apartment very quiet but wayyyy to far to get back and forth to the City the train stop running at 10 so we where stuck until 5 am.
The house is nice and pretty, it's not too far from Manhattan ( 25 minutes )
Sylwia was a great host, everthing as described in the offer and always there if you had questions concering the appartment or itineraries.
me and my girlfriend stayed in Nj at Sylwia´s appartment for almost one week. The flat was quite ok for that price but "minutes from manhattan" is maybe not the perfect expression. All in all you need 30 to 45 minutes to get to Manhattan when you take the bus to Grove Station and pathway to WTC or whatever. If you want to go straight to midtown plan with a few more minutes.
When we arrived at the flat it was occupied by a stranger who didn´t open the door. So we had to wait for Sylwia for half an hour. Actually that was not our deal. She said it was a missunderstanding and sorted that problem out.
The flat itself was almost clean but not fairly equipped. It should be possible to have some salt, pepper, sharp knives, a can-opener, a bigger pot and another pan in that flat. Just the basics in a kitchen. Then it would be awesome cause the kitchen is actually quite nice. We liked the livingroom and our bedroom. The flush of the toilette was leaking and running for longer times and not well cleaned. There were hairs and surely not from us.
Downstairs there was a very helpful guy from poland. He helped us out on our first evenung and brought us to a grocery store, a bank and a small restaurant in an old VW Beetle. That was a quite nice experience.
The contact with Sylwia was ok, the first evening was strange though because of the other person in our booked appartment.
The last point is the neighborhood. I can´t recommend to walk on the streets after 10 pm. It´s basically not the best street in a black community. During the day it´s not a problem. Once people, kids threw a can against our taxi and the taxi driver asked us if we are sure to at that place. We did it, it was kind of awkward but also nice. It´s not the typical touristic place to stay. But for our needs it was enough. We would do it again because you can save lots of money when you stay there. :) It was good but not perfect.
Anyway, thank Sylwia.
We arrived in Manhattan by coach and it required three different public transports (Metro, PATH and Light rail system) to get to the house. We had let know in advance when we'd arrive but she was out, meaning we had to wait 40 minutes outside with our bags - we tried calling but she didn't answer. When she arrived we were hurriedly shown to our room and within 5 minutes she left; we didn't see her again.
Toilet seat was broken, there was no toilet roll (another guest asked her about this and was told to buy it himself) and there were not enough bowls or cups for the number of people staying.
Most significantly it took at best an hour to get to down-town Manhattan, and cost about 10$ each way. Factor this in when comparing here with a location in, say, Queens, which is within the Metro boundary - for which you can purchase a 7-day pass for about 29$.
The place on the whole was not TOO bad for the money in terms of cleanliness and facility (free WiFi), but things like having to go get your own toilet roll and simply her lack of presence made it not very homely and is not somewhere that can be recommended for someone sight-seeing New York or who otherwise needs to be near it.
A very nice and comfortable furnished apartment. Everything was perfect. We enjoyed our stay very much and would love to come back for a second time. Thank you very much!
Very nice, clean and comfortable room not far from Manhattan. But you need 3 different public transport services (so tickets) to get to Manhattan.
